The Holistic Way
The approach holistic medicine takes are things like: ear candling, aromatherapies, massage, acupuncture, yoga, and chiropractic adjustments. The three that will have the biggest impact on the most amount of people is de-stressing, proper nutrition and detoxing the body. These natural remedies help many ailments that a conventional doctor would prescribe medication for.
De-stress: Our bodies need time to relax and recharge. You can do this by meditating, yoga or slow quiet walks. Our bodies cannot handle constant physical and emotional stress. Once you allow your body to relax, it can begin healing itself.
Nutrition: Processed food has many unnatural ingredients and our bodies were not designed to digest them and when we eat these foods our body sees this food as being toxic and stores it in our cells and tissue to protect our body from it. By eating more fresh fruits and vegetables and eliminating dairy and processed food from your diet, your body will have less toxins being put in and detoxifying can begin. Which will give you more energy, clearer thoughts and possible weight loss since many toxins are stored in fat cells. |

Detoxifying your body:
Toxins enter our body every day through the everyday things we are exposed to, like air pollution and processed food. When we are being exposed to too many of these things are bodies aren't able to all of release these toxins through our skin or bowl movements so a build up occurs. When our bodies don't have toxins slowing them down, they are able to fight disease on their own. Our bodies were designed to fight disease. However when your body is not able to release these toxins, cells began to mutate into cancer, and problems like arthritis and heart disease can began to happen. Our body naturally hangs on to a lot of these toxins that are entering our bodies and it is important to help your body to release them so you can function better. I explained above (when talking about how Holistic is different) some of the different ways to release the toxins from your body.
The place for conventional medicine
Medical physicians are helpful with testing of blood, urine and stool specimens and the occasional x-ray is also helpful. Also certain surgeries and synthetic drugs are needed in times of crises and emergency. However, "in everyday living, it is the practicing of holistic medicine that restores and sustains good health by allowing the body to strengthen, fortify and heal itself." Both are needed, but the most important thing to remember is not to rely on conventional medicine and synthetic drugs to "cure" a problem your having when there is an alternative available to you that is natural. |

Conclusion
Holistic medicine is becoming more and more popular because it works and it makes sense. People who are fed up with conventional medicine and are open to new ideas have tried holistic medicine and have seen the amazing benefits. Although I only briefly went over the differences between holistic and conventional medicine, you are still able to see how things like good nutrition, exercise and being stress free can have a positive effect on your body and its ability to heal itself. Conventional medicine should still be used occasionally, but for everyday living holistic medicine will lead to better health.
